Post-reveals Yuletide friending meme

I hope everyone had as good a Yuletide as I did! It's sometimes hard to find people who like the same small, Yuletide-eligible fandoms as you do, so I thought it would be great to do a friending meme after reveals, so that people could find and add the authors, recipients and commenters who made their 2018 Yuletides so enjoyable.

Please feel free to share this meme far and wide. To participate, just leave a comment on this post, copying the code below and filling in your own answers. I've enabled anonymous commenting so if you don't have a Dreamwidth account you can still participate.

People who didn't participate in Yuletide are also welcome to participate in this friending meme — obviously just leave out answers to the questions regarding Yuletide.

Aha I just read this, and, of course I like you; you're an academic librarian and medievalist. That's basically the kind of people I grew close to in college and still love and talk to a lot as it is. :)

I recognise most of the books you mentioned, even if I haven't read all of them! I look forward to hopefully talking to you more as time goes on. :)

I hung out with medievalists a lot and there's a world in which I went into history/medieval studies instead of psychology/education, and I live with two librarians. So, yeah, very adjacent. I also just love the specific kind of fannishness that medievalists have -- the line between fanfic and original work becomes very blurry when you think about things like The Mere Wife, which is a modern AU Beowulf story focusing on the women; and also all of Arthuriana is liminal like that.

how does one become an academic librarian?

One works at an academic (college) library after getting one's Library and Information Sciences Master's Degree. I suspect the academic/public distinction is something that matters a lot more to librarians than to the general public? But that's fair, it's their field.

cool, I have done neither job but I am looking for a way in, I have been volunteering at a bookshop for years now, I need work to do where I can organise stuff efficiently and not talk to customers

Well, hello :-)

Libraries, books, history and general interest in fannishness sound absolutely perfect to me.

Subscribing! Thanks for hosting this friending meme. I relate to mostly having small, Yuletide-eligible fandoms.

I used to be an early modernist academic, hello! I like talking about books - and Queen of Innis Lear is on my TBR list for this year.

I also loved Mad Max: Fury Road, and I'm looking to reread the Iliad, with very strong but vague memories of feeling indignation & sympathy for Briseis. If you get a good set of recs of content about women in the Iliad, I'd love to see that post

Also a former academic here! Talking about books sounds perfect, and I am also a BtVS fan. Mind if I add you?

It looks like we have a lot of common interests, and also I just appreciate your running a post-Yuletide friending meme. That's the kind of community building we need. Also, medievalist academic! I'm a rhetorician, but that was my secondary field, and I still write and present in it regularly.
