Day 20 – Your morning routine
Wow, I can't believe I'm up to the 20th day already! Today's topic seems a lot easier than the last couple, that's for sure.

My morning routine is pretty straightforward. At around 7.30, I get up and go for an hour-long run. (When it's the heat of midsummer, I get up at 6.50 instead.) Then I come home, have a shower and dry my hair (which takes ages as although my hair isn't very thick, there's a lot of it) and brush my teeth. I usually don't eat breakfast these days so after a quickish whip around the internet, I head off to the department and work on my thesis until about midday.

On Saturdays, this routine is slightly different. During term-time, I work the morning shift in the English faculty library from 10am, so I'm there. During the holidays, I tend to sleep in a bit longer.

On Sundays, after the running and getting ready, I do chores: laundry and shopping for food at the markets. After the chores are done, I Skype with Mum for about an hour.

In the winter, it's too dark to run in the morning, so I get up slightly later, come home from the department at midday and run then.

And that is my morning routine. I could also have said that my morning routine includes being online on #btts talking about anything and everything (since I tend to be there until 1 or 2am), but I thought that was stretching the definition of 'morning'.

I'm totally the last person who should be dispensing lifestyle advice to anyone, but of course I'm going to do it anyway. EAT BREAKFAST. You are clearly a morning person, so you have even less excuse than the rest of us for skipping it. You'd be much better off (nutritionally, metabolically etc) abstaining from food, meals or otherwise, at pretty much any time other than the morning - as I'm sure you already know. If you don't like breakfast-y foods, just contravene of our silly cultural norms and eat non-breakfasty food instead - salad, leftovers (curries IMO are especially good..), just fruit by itself, rice covered in soy sauce, whatever.

Other than that you seem to have an awesomely good routine which I'm immensely envious of.

Oh, and since I'm on a massive trend with nitpicking lately (please feel free to tell me to get bent at any point :P) - your choice of punctuation makes it read like Skyping your mother is a chore. Since she's a journalist and all, if she reads your Livejournal its the kind of thing she might notice ;-)
