It's good to see I am not alone! I wonder if there's some truth in one of the comments you got on that post — that the book only works for you if you read it as a teenager.

That said, the thing about the ending of Tam Lin that squicked me as an adult was also a huge squick to me when I was a teenager, so I still think I would have found the ending awful at that age too.
