Reminds me of how some of our friends from the Netherlands reacted when they came to northern California for a visit. Seeing the coast range hills, that top out around 1000m/3300ft, they exclaimed, "Mountains!" We both said, "No, these are hills. We'll show you mountains." And took the one who had time to Yosemite -- parts of which are over three times that height. And the granite face of El Capitan is nearly as tall as those local hills, and just about straight up. "OK, now you've seen mountains."
