This is the first Jane Eyre retelling I've read, but I have, in the past year or so, read a two-part modern retelling of Little Women, two different retellings of Twelfth Night, and, a few years ago, a retelling of A Tale of Two Cities, none of which worked for me. With the Lerner book, it was definitely a feeling of superficiality in approach to the myriad important issues being stuffed into the book.

Thank you! I'm not a fan of Tumblr-style tag essays, but I am a huge fan of flowery/weird individual tags being used consistently to classify posts, and I had a lot of fun coming up with mine. It's always nice when someone else appreciates them!
