I enjoyed running around as a child, but was never good at sports of any kind. I wanted to play football, but that wasn't an option. I did quite a lot of yoga and was very flexible - but I think I stretched too much and weakened my knee ligaments doing lotus. As a teenager, I tried jogging every now and then, and continued the yoga. I would do the occasional classes. in the early 1980s I discovered that I could dance, so long as I didn't have to be in time with anyone else, and enjoyed that, but infrequently. Then, when I got a job at a school which had weight equipment, I tried that, and got into the habit of using it a couple of times per week. I left, but when we moved, I went to the local gym to do weights, and got used to jogging late at night or in the early hours, to get rid of work stress, as well as swimming. When I got a regular job, we got an exercise bike, and gradually built up equipment to exercise at home, so we could do it while watching TV. Now, having an excuse to watch my shows is the motivation to exercise. I do it nearly every day - maybe one day off per week. I feel all weird if I miss more than a couple of days.
