Yeah I don't think there's anything wrong with being formulaic (I actually enjoyed Trom as well) but there have been a few where I've thought that if it had been British I probably wouldn't have bothered watching. I think some of the main characters have been a bit too flat for my liking. Lund in the Killing and Saga in the Bridge set the bar far too high! That's part of my interest in something like Babylon Berlin - it has the difference in setting and language but with meatier characters (or at least that's the impression I got.)
