Melbourne is such a great place to visit — there's so much going on, it's very walkable, and the food is absolutely fantastic. I haven't been back for a while because my dad, stepmother and my three youngest sisters moved out to Macedon so the last time I visited Australia all I saw of Melbourne was the airport! My oldest sister moved there for work literally a few months after my last visit and has now moved back to Sydney for work, so her entire time in Melbourne happened between two of my return trips. I am hoping to go there for the day from Macedon the next time I'm in Australia, though, but it will depend on trains etc.

I really love small town museums and public libraries, so I totally get what you're saying about Kalgoorlie!
