Personally I found the show worth it, but I actually enjoyed the book, so take that on board before you make a decision.

kore was saying above that Yellowjackets is apparently planned as five seasons, which strikes me as way too much. It sounds as if you've got an approach which enables you to enjoy it, in any case.
