Wow, both those things are so different to the job you ended up doing — you're absolutely right that it would probably have led to a very different life, in very different places, with very different relationships. I had no idea you'd considered working for the FBI!

The only positive for me in both cases would be (probably) getting the hell out of Texas. But I wouldn't have met E, I would've only seen my parents on holidays, I wouldn't have this house, I wouldn't have Ella, etc.

Understandable. These are all obviously very good things, and I'm only sorry that you've had to live in Texas in order to have them happen.
