That train journey sounds absolutely wonderful! It's so good that you live in a part of the US where you have access to that form of transport, as — as you say — it's pretty patchy around much of the country, which is such a shame.

Your description of the landscape, and then the cityscape, is very evocative, and I can almost feel myself there!
