It's definitely been great — I've been very lucky.
Cockerel is a rooster, so it's basically just a slightly larger chicken, and I haven't noticed any difference in taste. I grew up eating turkey at Christmas, but that would be ridiculous for two people (and in any case I'd be extremely daunted at the prospect of cooking it), so cockerel — which a small local farm from which we get all our meat has available only in limited quantities, only at this time of year — is a nice compromise.
