It is indeed hard to limit charity donations when there are so many competing demands for money. My attitude to this is that it's better to target and focus our individual energies: pick a single cause, and focus on it with laser-like attention. If everyone does the same, and spreads their focus widely, it's more effective that lots of people spreading themselves thinly.

The Jersey Zoo situation sounds like such an exhausting saga.
