A deluge

I can't remmeber the last time I got so overexcited about a storm! The weather this week has been ghastly — humid, and more than 30 degrees every day for about six days, to the point where our house was sticky, unbearable, and it was impossible to sleep. I had multiple nosebleeds due to the heat, and yesterday, I woke up with a massive migraine. I used to get them all the time when I was a teenager and in my early twenties, but now they're a fairly rare occurrence. But yesterday it was the full production: blurry vision, weird visual auras, nausea, and a crushing headache. I had to spend the entire morning lying in bed with the blinds down and a wet wash cloth over my eyes.

This morning Matthias and I started work outside at the table in our garden. It was cool and cloudy and appeared to be the only solution to the heat. And then, at last, the rain. It rained all morning! Everything has cooled down considerably, and the humidity has gone, and apparently it's now going to rain on and off for the next week. I am thrilled!

As a consequence of the heat, migraines and so on, I have had zero mental energy for reading, watching, or doing anything other than the bare minimum. (Seriously, last night I went and lay down in bed at about 8.30pm. I couldn't actually sleep because it was so hot, but all I could do was just lie there.) I'm looking to rectify that in the second half of the week at least.

I hope everyone is coping with their own personal equivalent of migraine-inducing heat...

After a week of "it will probably rain today" and it not raining I am currently hearing thunder outside and am very excited.

SAME. I literally ran outside and stood in the deluge. BLESSED, BLESSED RAIN. The last six days have been hell.

Ugh, that migraine sounds very nasty. Glad things have improved! We got the thunderstorm here yesterday and I was delighted—sat all evening with the back door open listening to the torrential rain and letting the cool air waft through the house :D

It has been so foul. I almost cried when it finally started to cool down last night but then didn't keep going. This morning too, when it poured but then was still hot. I've written off this week, basically.

But we made it. It's cooling down now, and that should be it.

I'm so sorry you've had such a rough reaction to the heat! It hasn't been quite as bad here on the coast, but the other day we did have the first genuine thunderstorm I've seen in my almost-a-year here, and I was delighted! I had missed thunder and lightning so much!

I wish you much delightful coolness in days ahead!

I'm glad you're feeling better. migraine's sound horrendous. I get the visual bits, but not the pain, so far.

Oh no!

We have bad weather today, which means my allergies and anxiety are worse. Yaaay.
