I can't remmeber the last time I got so overexcited about a storm! The weather this week has been ghastly — humid, and more than 30 degrees every day for about six days, to the point where our house was sticky, unbearable, and it was impossible to sleep. I had multiple nosebleeds due to the heat, and yesterday, I woke up with a massive migraine. I used to get them all the time when I was a teenager and in my early twenties, but now they're a fairly rare occurrence. But yesterday it was the full production: blurry vision, weird visual auras, nausea, and a crushing headache. I had to spend the entire morning lying in bed with the blinds down and a wet wash cloth over my eyes.
This morning Matthias and I started work outside at the table in our garden. It was cool and cloudy and appeared to be the only solution to the heat. And then, at last, the rain. It rained all morning! Everything has cooled down considerably, and the humidity has gone, and apparently it's now going to rain on and off for the next week. I am thrilled!
As a consequence of the heat, migraines and so on, I have had zero mental energy for reading, watching, or doing anything other than the bare minimum. (Seriously, last night I went and lay down in bed at about 8.30pm. I couldn't actually sleep because it was so hot, but all I could do was just lie there.) I'm looking to rectify that in the second half of the week at least.
I hope everyone is coping with their own personal equivalent of migraine-inducing heat...
