I am utterly baffled that there is an author out there who is so selfish as to believe that he is entitled to royalties whenever somebody reads his books. Does he also have a problem with friends lending books to each other? Restricting access to literature is a horrible idea - the impoverished tend not to read books enough as it is, resulting in so many children deprived of actual learning in their formative years. Books are not just entertainment - they're a very powerful tool. If I ever manage to write something I want published and actually get it published, I will definitely send copies to libraries, but until then, I'm happy with putting my writing up for free on the internet. I am a firm believer in equal access. Deary can suck it.
