Fic titles meme
Jun. 24th, 2020 02:48 pmI've been seeing this meme floating around my circle over the past few days (most recently via
misbegotten), and my reaction was basically, at last, my time has come! As you will see from my answers to this meme, I put way too much thought into my fic titles, and the chance to rhapsodise about that is very welcome!
Look at the most recent 20 fanwork titles on your AO3 account:

What can I say? This meme was made for me: I love coming up with titles, I have a lifetime's worth of quotes sloshing around in my head, and I love talking about the titles of my fic, because pretty much all of them were chosen very deliberately and with a lot of thought.
Also, looking at those, holy shit do I write a lot of iterations of 'spring goddess falls in love with death/winter god and causes a fruit tree to bloom and then grow fruit in the depths of snowy winter and/or the land of the dead': there are three versions of that story in these twenty fics alone! Also two of them based on the medieval Irish myth Tochmarc Étaíne (one of these days I will write the f/f feminist retelling of this myth of my dreams; I have a lot of feelings about Étaín and Fúamnach apparently).
