The first ten books of the year
Jan. 16th, 2022 11:19 amIn spite of several small dramas with household appliances, it's been a great weekend so far. I've swum, I've yoga-ed, I've gone for walks, Matthias and I have watched The Eternals (an incoherent, turgid mess of a film), and the wood-burning stove in the living room has been in frequent use, warming us as we relaxed after dinner.
2022 has been a good reading year so far: I've finished ten books (or, to be more precise, nine books and one short story), and most have been excellent.
I decided that this year I would make a concerted effort to clear some of the books that have been lingering on my Goodreads to-read list for a long time, and with a mixture of library holds and secondhand books (which I will later give away), I've had a lot of success on that count so far.
( The first ten books of the year, summed up in reading order )
I'll leave you with a link to a little video I saw on Instagram: a little boat that wends its way through the canals of Amsterdam, selling fresh smoked eel. The fact that such a thing exists delights me!
I hope you've all been having restful weekends.
