Friday open thread: favourite audiovisual works of the year

I've decided to close out December with open threads where people can discuss their favourite works of media of the year. I'm trying to split it into vague categories as it feels unfair to compare songs with theatrical performances, books with TV shows and so on. I've tried to keep the categories relatively broad, as there are only so many weeks remaining in the year and I don't have enough time to ask prompting questions about every single type of art!
