Three good things
Jan. 9th, 2023 09:02 pmI'm just ducking in with a quick
snowflake_challenge post today — thankfully the topic is one that can be anwered fairly quickly:
In your own space, tell us about 3 creative/fannish resources, spaces, or communities you use or enjoy. (One or two is fine, especially if you're in a smaller fandom or like many people at the moment, fannishly adrift right now)
I'm interpreting this fairly broadly, with one community, one resource, and one ... let's call it a 'movement.'

First up is
fandomcalendar, which I find an absolutely indispensable comm to keep track of fanworks exchanges, fests and similar. It's helpful for planning my fannish year, and alerting me to new events that suit my interests. If you're wanting to keep track of the myriad events throughout the year, or branch out into new exchanges, I highly recommend subscribing. It's also great to advertise your own events.
For something completely different, I recommend
naye's extremely detailed, comprehensive guide to getting started on Mastodon. For those who were looking to add a new platform to their various online spaces, but were a bit daunted, this guide is a really good resource.
Finally, I want to highlight a Dreamwidth based fannish movement dreamed up by
goodbyebird: 'Community Thursdays.' This is something of a 'be the change you want to see' in Dreamwidth-based fandom: a recognition that a lot of people were lamenting the demise of active comm-based fandom, but few people were doing anything encourage or increase activity on Dreamwidth comms. Community Thursdays is a straightforward challenge: each Thursday, do something on a comm — write a post, comment on someone else's post to a comm, promote a new comm on your own journal. This is exactly the sort of thing I like to see on Dreamwidth!
And those are just a handful of resources and other wonderful things that I'm aware of!
I'm absolutely wiped out from work today, so although I owe a lot of comments on previous posts, I'll have to get to them tomorrow.
