Usernames on other platforms (Dreamwidth, Tumblr, Twitter etc):
Preferred platform(s): Dreamwidth/LJ. If you have both and only want to add my account on one, I recommend DW, because these days I check it more often.
I like to post about/read about: My posts are maybe roughly 50 % fannish things, including book geekery and writing fics and such, and 50 % RL stuff. Most RL stuff tends to be friends-locked, as well as some of the fannish things that end up in those posts. RL things include all kinds of bits and bobs from what's going on in my life, from weather and nature to baking to work angst to ballet squee to whatever; the occasional angst about What I Will Do When I Grow Up (because in my 30s I'm no clearer about that than before); and occasional mental health flailing (am recovering from depression and anxiety). I've been a bit irregular the past few months, but am planning to post more often again.
What I like to read: a mixture or RL and fannish/geeky things. People being themselves and posting what they care about. Ponderings of writers, history or science geeks, bookworms, people sharing fandoms I love. It depends on you, really! If you're being yourself and we share some dear interests, then the chances are, I'll enjoy reading it. But I don't like reading journals devoted mainly to fandoms I don't know, journals that are only feeds for a Twitter account etc., or where half or more of the content is memes and questionnaires.
Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms):
Yuletide-size fandoms:
Wayfarers series - Becky Chambers (The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and A Closed and Common Orbit)
Finishing School, Parasol Protectorate, Custard Protocol by Gail Carriger and the other assorted bits and pieces in the same universe
Le Comte de Monte Cristo / The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas (especially for the f/f)
I also enjoy reading Jane Austen and L.M. Montgomery book fandoms for femslash or other female-centric stories
Also, things that I've enjoyed reading/watching lately but am not yet caught up with: Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries (Dorothy Sayers), Alpennia series (Heather Rose Jones), Sense8, Broadchurch, The Crown
Bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms:
Doctor Who (new Who, haven't watched any Classic Who yet), Torchwood
This Yuletide I wrote: Words That Burn, f/f for The Count of Monte Cristo, Eugénie Danglars/Louise d'Armilly. 19th century pretty-damn-much-canon lesbians, music and poetry!
Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection? I'm so behind on my reading, so I there are wonderful stories I haven't read yet, but here are a few I've particularly loved:
my own gift, The Christmas Pudding Caper, in Finishing School - Gail Carriger
these fics: The Value of a Wet Day in the Country, Jane Austen - Mansfield Park, Fanny Price/Mary Crawford
White Violets, Red Roses, Anne of Green Gables series - L.M. Montgomery, Anne/Diana
Itch, Wayfarers Series - Becky Chambers, a lovely Ohan gen fic, Ohan & Artis Corbin
Anything else you want to say: Other things I love: writing original fiction, reading reading reading lots of things (novels, poetry, non-fiction about science, history, travel writing, biography/memoirs), ballet (both watching and recreational ballet dancing, though I'm still a beginner), drinking good tea, learning languages, seeing musicals and plays, listening to classical music, listening to John Barrowman sing, travelling, nature, starting crochet and knitting projects but not so much finishing them, apparently.
Oh, and please drop me a comment somewhere if you want to be friends, I might not notice if you just add me without telling me you did it.
