Beyond Selidor

Kate Elliott is one of my favourite authors, and it's partly because she writes older women, and relationships between girls and women so well. You don't see the full extent of Kiya's awesomeness in the first book, but she really is a wonderful character and is largely responsible for why I love this trilogy so much!

I've not read any Stephen King, but showing how loving a child deeply & fiercely doesn't necessarily make you a good parent is a really tricky thing to portray, so well done to him for managing it.
