dolorosa_12: (what it means to breathe fire)
From: [personal profile] dolorosa_12
I grew up in Canberra and then moved to Sydney for six years, and I can't remember anywhere other than cinemas and shopping centres having aircon. It might be different now — I certainly wouldn't want to live in inland Sydney without airconditioning these days! Australian houses tend to be built to let air in and heat out — big windows, wind tunnels, high ceilings etc — whereas British ones are designed to keep heat in, meaning they really cannot cope with temperatures over the mid-twenties. It's been really unpleastant!
