Cozy fanfic

dolorosa_12It never fails to lift my spirits when kudos notifications from Ao3 appear in my inbox. I don't write wildly popular fic — I only write for exchanges, and those exchanges are things like Yuletide and other multifandom exchanges for small(ish) fandoms. But what I write seems to continue to steadily gain kudos — usually no more than one or two a week, but enough to brighten my day and know that at least someone, somewhere is reading.
Most recently, one of my cosiest, cheeriest stories, 'Like Bitter Chocolate,' seems to be picking up a lot of love. This is one of my favourite things that I've ever written, mainly because it involves vampires, baking, and actual recipes. I wrote it for the Sunshine (Robin McKinley) fandom as a Yuletide treat several years ago.
I normally feel a bit silly promoting my own work outside of the normal reveals period immediately after an exchange, but I figure we could all do with a bit of cosyness and baked goods right now. I don't think knowledge of the canon is necessary to read it, although knowing who the characters are might enhance things as a big part of the fic was my attempt to match recipes with characters.
