The gatekeeping drives me up the wall, because I have witnessed versions of this repeating for at least a decade, and although the specifics are different, the way it plays out is identical. And based on what I've observed, very rarely are these gatekeeping callouts being made in good faith.

Maybe some people are in the closet because being out isn't safe! How about that!
