Beyond Selidor

It's a really, really wonderful book. Geras has written a lot of books in many different genres, but her historical fiction is my very favourite. She has another one I really enjoy, Voyage, which takes place entirely on a ship filled with characters (mostly Jewish) immigrating to the United States, but it's much more bittersweet, whereas The Girls in the Velvet Frame is just sweet.
