the US is not really a democracy. A country whose politicians on one side of politics work so hard to suppress the vote and whose entire electoral strategy is built on preventing their opponents from voting is not a democracy. A country where the entire electoral infrastructure is the responsibility of partisan elected officials, rather than an independent electoral commission staffed with civil servants is not a democracy
