Forming friendships as an adult is really, really hard I find — lots more effort than in childhood, or even university, where by virtue of being in the same space for hours every day, you build enough shared experiences as a basis to form a friendship.

I know some people kind of replicate this in adulthood by being friends with their work colleagues, but the thought of that fills me with horror. I like most of my colleagues well enough, but I like to have a rigid wall between my work and personal/social lives.
