This is an interesting question. I too find it difficult to make friends as an adult. Even before the pandemic, work was the only place where I got to meet new people. I tend to categorize between close friends, work friends and online friends. Close friends are people who I went to school or university with. Work friends I count as people that I would choose to socialize with out of work. I consider anyone I speak to online on a fairly regular basis a friend.
