I connected with someone after writing several comments on their (anon) Yuletide stories. Turned out we lived in the same city and had gone to the same university (and had similar degrees!). This felt Big to me as the biggest I placed lived in before moving to the big smoke had a population of 5k, so. Limited fannish presence.
