Words, overwhelmed

Someone just pushed anti-vax and pseudoscientific nonsense through our letterbox, which pretty much sums up the week.
I'm furious at the Australian government for its botched vaccine rollout, I'm furious at the UK government for basically telling everyone they should throw off their masks on 19th July (incidentally, the first day I'm due to commute on the train to work in the office; the thought of being on public transport with the same unmasked fools who just leafletted the house is making me panic), and in general I'm not in the greatest mood about the state of the world.
The NHS is clearly horrified at all this 'freedom day' nonsense from the UK government, because there's been a massive escalation in vaccination over the past few days — mass walk in vaccination centres for anyone over 18 have popped up everywhere, one of the academics in my department sent an email to all staff, begging us to share the news with any student mailing lists that because one of the big NHS centres had had hardly any bookings today, they'd opened up to any walk-ins, and people are doing everything short of standing on rooftops with megaphones, shouting unvaccinated youths! we have Pfizer!. If you are UK-based, keep your ear to the ground and share any such stuff with your networks, especially people who have young adult children.
I was expecting to get my second vaccine dose in late July/early August, but another consequence of the above is that the waiting period between dose 1 and dose 2 seems to have been brought forward, and I was notified this morning by my GP surgery to book the second dose. This will take place in a week from Saturday, and is a huge relief.
There are glimmers of light, but I'm weary.
