Yes, and publishing has offloaded a lot of marketing and other work to authors. Authors are expected, especially YA authors, to be heavily involved in the marketing and promotion. The line between traditional publishing and self-publishing grows ever thinner for some authors. It doesn't help the publishing scene is even more dominated by a select few.

I suppose this means I should read more Frances Hardinge!
