Beyond Selidor

I've had a lot of those forks in the road, really. If I hadn't had such a brutal breakup with my rhythm guitarist (she tried to get me to commit suicide), I probably wouldn't have given up music as a career. And if, following that, I hadn't taken a job tutoring while I was working toward becoming a research biologist and realized how much I love teaching, I wouldn't have moved into academia. And even if I had decided to become a professor, it would have been as a biologist if I hadn't had some awful experiences in the field and slid sideways into rhetoric and writing instead.
