I've always been a morning person (when I was a teenager I used to regularly get up at 5.30 or 6am and practice piano while no one else was awake) — I'm at my sharpest and most energetic in the early morning, and like you I just like that feeling of being alone, with no expectations. I can see why that would have caused friction during your holiday — it's making me feel a bit defensive of my own solitary mornings myself, just reading about it!
