Doesn't it just? Knowing what I know about how difficult it is to get films off the ground these days in Hollywood unless they involve a preexisting IP (either franchises or remakes or adaptations), I assume she just wasn't able to get it funded, and turned it into a novel instead. But it would been a great film, and ended up being a rather mediocre book.
