I have about a thousand tabs open right now, and I thought it was about time to close them. So you get a linkpost. It's not very cheery, unfortunately.
Those of you who were moved by the Kony 2012 video, a word of caution. There are a lot of problems with the approach advocated by Invisible Children, and there are a lot of problems with the video itself. Boing Boing has a round-up of people from different parts of Africa responding to the video.
So does Read This Not That.
These are the best and worst places in the world to be a woman. And it's bad news for women in Australian literary publications. The only place where their voices achieve any kind of parity with men's are the Sunday papers, which are traditionally very fluffy and 'lifestyle' types of publications.
And finally, this post, which is a disturbing round-up of the findings of a study of male fundamentalists' attitudes towards so-called female 'modesty'.
