I just want to whine a bit

Everyone, if you don't like blood, please look away right now.
I am sick of nosebleeds. I have had bad nosebleeds all my life, although they got really bad when I was a teenager, so bad that I went to the doctor and got my nose cauterised. I had to have it cauterised another two times, once when I was about 17 and another time when I was about 21 or 22. I am now 27, and the nosebleeds are the worst they've ever been since I was a teenager.
It's gone from getting them once every one or two weeks (which is what it was like last year) to getting them at least three times a week. I went to the doctor twice in the UK last year to see if I could get my nose cauterised, but they (I saw two different doctors) said that no one cauterises noses any more. I'm not sure if this is the case in Australia (I plan to try and get it done in Australia in December if possible), but if it's not possible there, I'm at my wits' end.
It's got to the point that if I walk into a warm room, I get a nosebleed. If I have a shower, more often than not, I get a nosebleed. Yesterday, I was out with my boyfriend's sister and her friend at Extrablatt and the stuffy atmosphere caused me to get a nosebleed. I was in the bathroom for half an hour, with people fussing around me and holding ice on the back of my neck.
My original doctor when I was a teenager told me that I had very small blood vessels that were close to the surface, hence the nosebleeds, and my doctor in Sydney told me that it was the extreme changes from cold to warm that caused the nosebleeds to happen. But I can't do anything about the size or location of my blood vessels, and I can't control the temperature, and I'm fed up with having random nosebleeds when I walk into a classroom from outside, or go in the shower, or sit in a stuffy cafe. When I have a cold (which happens reasonably often), I can't blow my nose for fear of causing nosebleeds.
It's all extremely frustrating.

Date: 2012-04-13 09:48 pm (UTC)(I was hoping you'd reply. I have a couple of other friends in Australia who are doctors, but they're not on LJ.)

Date: 2012-04-14 01:50 am (UTC)I'm sorry to hear that! I often get nosebleeds - once I had them every day for 3 months. (I was told is was fatigue and "stress" - whatever that means!).
Perhaps you could talk to a doctor about getting a pill or something that works as a coagulant? What have the doctors said to manage it (if anything)?

I'll try and think of solutions for you :)
