Thanks to some prodding (and an invite code from [personal profile] st_aurafina) I am now on Imzy as Dolorosa. I'm not sure I'm going to use it as a blogging platform unless I can figure out how to crosspost here, but I've joined a bunch of communities and am going to just lurk a bit until I can figure out how everything works.

So yeah, if you're on Imzy, feel free to follow me (although if your username is very different, could you let me know who you are), and also do rec me some communities.

(Also, if I were to start a comm there for Australian YA — both early stuff from my childhood, and current stuff — would anyone be interested?)

Yay! It's fun, in a weird, I-just-moved-into-this-place-where-are-the-light-switches way.

This is useful: fail_fandom_anon's round-up of fandom comms

You can possibly set up crossposting now that there's RSS app for Imzy - it can pick up and post from any RSS feed, which Dreamwidth has. I haven't played around with it yet, but there's more info here. That app was new today, I think? Or at least, I just found that post today, I don't know. It's very weird and exciting to be in such an active beta!

I guess I ought to join in before someone snags my normal username. Any chance you've got an invite code to spare?

Just signed up for an access code. Will think about my name there - I may do something different, in which case I'll let you know.

Interestingly, it seems you can only see profiles if you're logged in. I think I like that - might be good troll deterrent.

Ooh, I didn't know that about the profiles. You may be right, although I think in certain contexts, the ability to comment anonymously brings about more honest discussion. Honesty doesn't have to mean trollish or abusive behaviour (both of which should have no place in any community), and sometimes it's really necessary to have spaces where anon commenting is possible.

Do let me know once you're all set up over there and I'll follow you!

Ooh, good point. Even on LJ there's been one or two times I wished I could go anon, and I have written posts where I've enabled anon commenting because the subject was something people might not want under their usernames. I've also seen the flip side, where named users at mostly anon comms were harassed because they did use their names, which trolls took advantage of.

Yeah, those were exactly the kinds of situations I was thinking about. I also know of several instances in which friends of mine (and other people I didn't know) were only able to speak up about abuse they'd experienced in fandom, and the abusive behaviour of certain people in fandom, because they were able to do so anonymously. That's why I think it can be necessary at times - in the latter instance, they were able to start talking about stuff publicly after first testing the waters anonymously to see whether they'd be believed and supported.
