It's humid, I'm sleepy, and I come bearing internet gifts.

This is an old article from 2013 in The Guardian about an academic hoax. It's got all my favourite things: disputes in academia about very silly things, an army of pseudonyms and fake identities, wild accusations of corruption and conspiracy, etc. Be warned that there's some very unfortunate fatphobia on the part of the journalist in basically the first sentence.

The title of this blog post says it all: When you browse Instagram and find former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott's passport number. This is a very long post, amusingly told, but such a wild ride that it's well worth the read. The tl;dr: don't post photos of your boarding pass on social media! (Not that any of us are flying these days.)
