Still really sick with this cold (no, it's not COVID, I've had two negative PCR tests), still coughing and sneezing my way through this first week back at work, still very grateful that I'm working from home for the entire week and can thus lie down on the bed for five minutes every time it gets hard to breathe, still entirely lacking in energy.

Have a scattering of links to things that have made me think, or made me laugh, online these past few days:

I wanted to link to this pair of posts from [personal profile] chestnut_pod and [personal profile] forestofglory because I read them basically in succession, and they seemed in conversation with one another, even though both were posted independently.

[personal profile] forestofglory: I want more fiction to engage with the idea that we can be good members of the community of nature, and that we don't have to either destroy or leave.

[personal profile] chestnut_pod:Untouched wilderness is a colonialist construct and this book is a pastoralist fantasy that falls right into that exceptionally colonial trap. Oh, so the world would be better off entirely without humans? The ~virgin forest~ is the pinnacle of nature? The Primordial Wilderness™ exists and is the end-goal of human conservation activity? Nature and humanity are separate, if not antithetical? OY.

Finally, on a lighter note, an old set of Tumblr posts which create Millennial versions of Puritan names, which made me laugh. ('Millennial' in this case meaning 'extremely fannish and Extremely Online circa 2000-2015'.) Tag yourself — I'm 'I-Have-Receipts Johnson.' Obviously.
