I think I speak for everyone unfortunate enough to have tied their futures to this gaslit island when I say that this omnishambles of a 'government' can get in the bin.
Honestly, anyone other than the Tories would be preferable at this point. I know people have their issues with Starmer, but at the bare minimum he wouldn't have done something like this or allowed the people around him to behave in this way.
I think the crucial thing here is (as you say), the party getting rid of Boris. He will never resign — he and his party have made it clear they have no shame, and there is no scandal too embarrassing, no depths to which they will not sink, nothing shameful enough to make him resign. However, I think most of the MPs in his party see him as a kind of useful election-winning idiot — they think they only stayed in power because he was the leader, they think they only won those 'red wall' seats because of him. They don't actually like or respect him. And so as soon as he stops being useful, they'll get rid of him. But he won't leave.
And so as soon as he stops being useful, they'll get rid of him.
Agreed. This is something you can always count on with the Conservatives. I also fully expect Boris to be kicked out by his own party rather than leaving.
