My brain has basically been a constant refrain of Dunedunedunedunedunedune since last Saturday, and that doesn't seem likely to be changing any time soon, so, in honour of my current subject of obsessive focus, we have today's prompt:

What's currently captured all of your attention?

I'm prompting for pleasant attention-capturing things here, although I recognise that for a lot of people reading this, all their current focus may be occupied with much heavier concerns.

If this goes on much longer, I may need to come up with a suitable tag for Dune...

For going on five months now: William T. Riker

(I was a fan before that, but he's had a strangle hold on me since November.)

The book I'm writing, while I try and get into the headspace of turning into a second draft, and a bit skating simply because I can't do it. I've been too ill and worn out, and in the meantime every second email I get is about some skate meet-up or other that I can't go to.

Mending! Mostly, but not exclusively, darning. It's quite a good series of projects for 10 minute baby naps, small enough to keep within reach without cluttering the place up too horrendously. And it's #MendMarch over on Instagram so there's plenty of other people's work to look at too.

Mine is mostly real life logistics tbh. Just endless "If this happens, then I'll have to do that, and how can I get this other thing done by time?"

But on the happier side of things: I'm just going: SPRING! SPRING! SPRING! all the time!

My Journey to You! A league of ambitious assassins versus in the Starks of Winterfell in wuxia China, by the guy who made Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity! It's one of my favorite things I've ever seen, I think, and I can't decide how soon to watch it again!

Honestly, it's the Beacon Hill Sorcerer books and I've got no one to talk to about them. I am going to write 3 fanfics about it, fics that 2 people will read, and then trying to switch my brain back into Stranger Things gear for the Steddie Big Bang.

I am used to teeny, sad old fandoms but now this. Enjoying the writing I am doing, but yeah, once current projects are done my writing energy needs to go elsewhere... mostly, I may do some drawerfic

I've been obsessed with Mysterious Lotus Casebook since I first watched it in August. Sword fights! Beautiful friendship! A cute dog! Crime solving that follows Scooby Doo rules (people suggest it's going to be ghosts responsible for many of the murders, but it's never ghosts)! And most importantly, the finest artisanal hurt/comfort, complete with my favourite character willing to throw away his lifelong dream to protect his new BFF, to leave me feeling completely unhinged.

I'm doing "Bird-A-Day" again, and today I found "our resident Slavonian Grebe" as our local expert puts it! Also, 2 Black-necked Grebes, about 10 Razorbills, a Guillemot and some Great Crested Grebes.
Most of my attention ATM is actually on "heavier things" - getting Jersey Zoo back on track.

It's spring so I'm all about watching my balcony come alive these days, planning what to buy and what to plant and how to decorate this year and all that. :D Fandom wise, I am super into a taiwanese drama called Unknown, which is excellent.

I've been loving:

The murder mystery series Death and Other Details

The latest series of Resident Alien

The comedy TV series The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin

The film Next Goal Wins (written and directed by Taika)

The film Uproar - about a mixed Maori kid at an otherwise all white private boys school discovering who he is and what he wants, while some New Zealanders protest against apartheid and the Springboks tour - and other New Zealanders try to brutally suppress those protests.

Plus, of course, I am still completely obsessed with Blake's 7, and especially Avon/Blake

It's great and I loved it!

What I didn't realise, until someone else on Dreamwidth told me,

is that the lead actor in Uproar (2023), Julian Dennison, was the same actor who was so great in Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016)

I'm usually very very good at recognising actors (unusually so, which is weird because I'm unusually bad at putting names to faces in real life), but puberty changed his voice; face shape; and body composition significantly
