The background to this: I had a dream where Peter Costello, the former Treasurer of Australia, read fanfiction. I was talking to one of my friends about it on Facebook.

J: Oh, before I forget, the reason I was buzzing you. I think I might be able to beat you weird politician dream with one I had this afternoon.

14:26 Ronni: mm?

14:26 J: A really vivid dream of KRudd playing the pipes (quite well too) in Westminster. Got up, googled it, felt like a bit of a tool.

14:26 Ronni: That's AWESOME.

14:27 J: It's worrying is what it is.

14:27 Ronni: But I can beat it with last night's dream: Rorschach (demented right wing psychopath from Watchmen) being used to advertise the Edinburgh Festival.

14:28 J: Psychotic super heroes/anti-heroes make the best PR types...

14:28 Ronni: Oh yes. 'Come to the Edinburgh Festival...or I'll break your fingers and drop you down an elevator shaft, you diseased liberal intellectuals of FILTH!'

14:29 J: When you put it like that he really does make a very compelling case.

I'm not sure what was more disturbing - the idea of some marketing genius thinking Rorschach would be able to sell the Edinburgh Festival, or the fact that the whole concept had seemed entirely plausible in my dream.

I was just at the bank, actually, and the people there are huge Watchmen freaks, and were saying how they were trying to work up a marketing scheme involving the Comedian.

'Get a checking account today! Or this dude with the 'stache will show up at your house some night and fire tear gas through your windows.'

It's a wonder the bank manager said no.
