I've got lots of blog posts for you today. The first two are on Geata Póeg na Déanainn and the second is on Longvision.
The first post is about the ethics of immortality as depicted in Jennifer Fallon's Tide Lords series, Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and Sara Douglass's Troy Game books. You can find it here.
The second is about the lyrics of Regurgitator as an expression of 90s apathy, ennui and despair. It's here.
Finally, I've written my latest Longvision post about the unmapped corners of the world of Romanitas, and you can find it here.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Date: 2009-08-30 07:03 am (UTC)If you were here I could lend you Trudi Canavan's latest series (the Age of the 5) which are pretty good but end poorly (just a blah ending, I'm big on good endings, really ruins a whole book/series if it doesn't end well!).
And I'm partway through Kushiel's Chosen now. VERY good. I'm so in love with Joscelin.

Date: 2009-08-30 08:35 am (UTC)I've been warned off the Age of the Five series by various people who said it had a very unsatisfying ending, so I think I'll give it a miss.
I don't think my post is spoilery for the final two books of Tide Lords, I think it's more generally spoilery about the nature of immortality in the series and the personality of the characters. It's only got spoilers for the first book.

Date: 2009-11-10 12:14 pm (UTC)I'd be interested to read Romanitas fanfic, and I've found at least one other fan on LJ (her name is
(Also, do you mind if I add you?)

Date: 2009-11-11 06:49 am (UTC)It would be cool if they were a Romanitas comm on lj - I'm sure there must be other people who'd like reading it... but you're the first one I've found.
Inspired by this post I'm writing some Una/Marcus set in between their reunion at the end of Rome Burning and the discussion between Marcus and Noriko at the games about whether he's seeing Una still. ^_^ Hopefully it will be good.

Date: 2009-11-11 10:20 am (UTC)I'm thinking of starting a Romanitas comm, now that I know at least two other people on LJ are fans. There are quite a few other people on the Facebook group too, but I don't know if they use LJ.
I'm really pleased to hear about the fanfic. Una is my favourite character in the book, and I love Una/Marcus, so I'm looking forward to reading it.
I'll set up the comm later today, after I've actually done some work.
Also, I adore your icon.
