dolorosa_12I'm in Hong Kong in an internet cafe, thinking about how every overseas trip I've ever taken with my family has always involved some monumental screw up on the first few days. This time, the screw up was gigantic!!!
You see, I'm supposed to be in Paris now!!!
We got in at 6am yesterday. We booked a hotel for one night. We stayed in it. We went shopping. We ended up in a part of town with no people except crowds of police...who followed us. (I later realised that the WTO was meeting here, but it was alarming at the time, because it didn't seem to be for any reason!!!). We stayed in our hotel.
Everyone had been saying, before we left, that it was odd that we had to wait over 24 hours for our flight to Amsterdam. And it was odd - because we WEREN'T meant to wait. The flight was for 12.15 in the middle of the night - TODAY!! Not 12.15 in the middle of the night TOMORROW. At nine in the morning, Mum realised we were meant to have got onto the plane, NINE HOURS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, after much discussion, we booked a flight for tonight. But I cannot believe how STUPID we were!!!!!!!!!!
Next time I write, it will be after being on a plane for 13 hours. And hopefully in either Paris or Amsterdam!!!
I don't think I should ever view my mother as infallible or omniscient again!
