Another sister to gush over
Nov. 15th, 2007 09:39 pmWell, Friday is my lovely sister Kitty's birthday. She will be turning five. Obviously because I've only known her for five years I can't write quite as much as I wrote about Mimi, but...
Well, Kitty took three days to be born, due to some incredibly incompetent doctors. I also blame the fact that she is the daughter of two people who REALLY LOVE TO SLEEP. The line of thinking probably went like this:
Well, it's comfortable here, why should I leave when everything's provided for me?
When she was finally born, I was at a party for one of my friends, who is one of four people I know who share Mimi's birthday. I was so happy that I danced screaming around the house. For most of the first few months of her life, Kitty slept, while Dad and my stepmother Alice (and I) packed up the contents of their tiny flat and moved them to their new, slightly bigger house.
Just for those of you who don't know, this is Kitty.

Although I'm 17 years older than Kitty, we do share some things:
We love talking and thrive on melodrama.
We love books and reading. Kitty, I think learned to read when she was about four - she can recognise all letters and many words. I've already been able to share some of my favourite children's picture books with her, and look forward to sharing many more as the years go by.
We love sitting in nice city cafes drinking coffee (or, in her case, babycinos).
We love dancing and singing (although she sings much better than I do).
Also, she shares my make-up!
Kitty, you are my favourite 'big sister'. Seeing you in Melbourne, the favourite of everyone in your street*, as glamorous as your other older sister Mimi. The way you have handled your diabetes (diagnosed this year) is incredibly mature (and the way you inject yourself with insulin is incredibly impressive!) It's been amazing watching you grow up over the past five years, and even though I'm so much older than you, I've thoroughly enjoyed being your sister. I can't wait to see you go to school next year and hope that you'll have lots more adventures and fun.
Happy birthday Kitty. I love you 'like fireworks'.
Some more Kitty photos.

With her 'husband' Bruno, the three-year-old boy next door.

And all glammed up for a day on the town.
