Two fanvid recs

If you think my desire to close various tabs is behind this flurry of Dreamwidth posts, you would be right.

This post is a rec for two great fanvids which I stumbled across over the past couple of days.

The first is one that induced an acute bout of Buffyverse nostalgia, set in my favourite seasons of the show (those that took place when the characters were in high school), and with the most perfect song choice ever.

The second simply took my breath away. It's an unbelievably ambitious thing: more than thirteen minutes of the 2010s in review by way of films released in that decade. The breadth and scope in terms of different genres is incredible; Oscar-bait sits next to trashy action films, cult fan favourites next to the big blockbusters of the MCU and Harry Potter franchises. And the music (which, given the length of the vid is more than one song) is really, really well matched to the visuals, and the whole thing is just beautifully edited. I highly recommend it. (Given the range of genres there, I should probably stick in a content warning for some blood, gore, and horror imagery.)

Oh, yay, I thought these vids were discontinued a few years back when they stopped showing up on YouTube - so glad that's not true and that there's a decade in review to top off the annual ones! Thank you for sharing!

Oh wow, I didn't realise they were an annual thing — I just assumed the decade vid was a one-off! Looks like I'll have some other vids to watch, in that case.

Those end-of-year music mashups are great, although I was disturbed to realise that I only recognised about two songs from the 2014 one that you linked. If I'm that bad with music from 2014, I must be even worse with more current music! It makes me feel very old!
