...until I got to this post. Then I had to get my rage on. But check out the 'posts of note'. The ones on Mal Reynolds, Veronica Mars, Discworld, and in particular HP7 are really fantastic.
I just read (and only read) the HP7 post you linked. I don't usually read things you or other people on my flist link to, as that extra click just seems like too much effort for me sometimes. I disagree with several things she/he (I think it's a she? I wasn't paying attention) says regarding the book (I just finished reading it for the third time yesterday) but I won't reply to it as I have no idea what blog this is that you linked to (I have limited internet time due to being in Wales) and I'd probably end up rambling about a grossly Westernised viewpoint or something just as tangential.
Just a comment to remind you I read your LJ, or something.
Yeah, it's a she. I stumbled on to her blog after reading a link someone had posted to a vitriolic review of one of my favourite books. After that I read heaps of other posts, mainly because she was interested in a lot of the stuff I'm interested in (such as Buffy, Discworld, attitudes to science fiction and fantasy among 'mainstream' reviewers and critics).
I know what you mean about clicking links on things your friends post, so thanks for letting me know that you read my blog. I read yours too, if you weren't aware of that.
Oops, my link coding is obviously deficient. I meant to link to the "His Dark Materials condensed" post. HDM is pretty much my favourite book series, and was essentially the catalyst for my philosophical and intellectual development as a teenager. It wasn't so much your post as much as some of the comments below it that really bothered me.
That being said, I loved pretty much every other post of yours, especially those on Firefly and Joss Whedon-related stuff, so one out of...a multitude isn't bad, I guess.
I hope you don't mind that I signed up for an RSS Livejournal feed of your blog.
Gotcha. I was getting a little uncomfortable about the comments on that post too, but I stand firm on the series itself, which can still send me into paroxysms of rage. Unlike other topics (coughBattlestarGalacticacough), however, I seem to have figured out how to just ignore the phenomenon, and don't see myself writing about it again in the future.
I'd be happy for you to subscribe to the blog's RSS feed! There's also a syndicated LJ feed (http://syndicated.livejournal.com/wrong_questions) if you prefer that.
Brackets much?

Sorry to barge in
