It's Yuletide time again!

As seems to be the case most years, Yuletide has very much creapt up on me without warning, until suddenly here we are, with about nine days left for nominations.

If you're planning to nominate, the tagset to do so is here.

There's a nominations coordination post here, plus a coordination spreadsheet.

As always, you can nominate up to three fandoms, and up to four characters in each. I'm pretty sure I'm going to fill all my slots, but if anyone wants characters nominated from Samantha Shannon's Bone Season series, please let me know as I have two character slots there.

yuletide_admin is the main comm for rules, deadlines and announcements. yuletide is where you go to coordinate nominations, promote your fandoms, and otherwise be enthusiastic.

This is the case for me almost every year! It's the peril of being fannish about such tiny fandoms that they're even tiny by Yuletide standards.

I always feel like Yuletide used to be more focused on the truly tiny but I don't know if that's just pining for the old days.

This is generally my Yuletide fandoms too, at least as far as requests are concerned. I tend to offer things that are more popular by Yuletide standards, because I don't pick up new fandoms for exchanges, so I have to offer things that I've actually read — which generally means no microfandoms. But we'll see what happens this year.

I am, so far, avoiding it for real this year. I have tried to walk away in years past, but this year, I am firmly on the 'this is not sparking joy' and looking at smaller holiday events.

That sounds like a sensible decision. Exchanges are meant to be fun, and if they're not, they just end up feeling like a stressful duty. I hope there are some other events around that time of the year that suit you better.

I'm planning to participate! I've already put in my nominations (and immediately realised a fandom that didn't get fic last year that I want nominated, but I'll just have to hope someone else noms it again).

Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex! It is hard to write fic for, though, and the most recent Netflix series was underwhelming, so I also wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't get nominated.

As always! I haven't missed a year since 2009! I haven't had time to sit down and decide what fandoms to nominate yet though.

Oh wow, participating since 2009 is very impressive. I've only started taking part since 2014 — I was aware of it before that, but was daunted at the prospect of writing fic to someone else's specifications.

Now, I find it almost impossible to write if I haven't got someone's prompt (and a deadline). How times have changed!

I generally dither about maybe taking the year off Yuletide this time, but then I always participate anyway. So, me! It'd be a shame to break my streak on my 15th Yuletide anyway. I think I get a free pastry or something.
