Some of you may have seen this review of a Michelin-starred Italian restaurant, which was going viral on several of my social media platforms yesterday.

Now, I'm a food snob, and have eaten at several of this type of restaurant — the kind where you get multiple smaller courses, rather than a substantial main course, and where everything is matched to wine pairings and so on. But on every such occasion, the food was excellent, the staff were professional and helpful, there was an actual menu (and people were clear about allergies and dietary requirements), and I left feeling full. This restaurant — at least on the occasion when the reviewer and her friends dined there — is like a bad parody of this type of fine dining, and the review is hilarious.

And, like the icing on the cake, the chef has posted his response (towards the bottom of this article), and it just adds to the utter absurdity.

THE HORSE PAINTINGS Was that last one some kind of abstract classic I don't know or like the scribblings of a five-year-old child??

Following that has been an absolute delight! I think some fancy molecular dining would be fun, but it's also something where I would 100% plan to go to a fast food place before or after. They are more about the ambitious form than anything else. But the head chef being so obnoxious just really hammered down this particular restaurant and it keeps on giving as a story!

What if food indeed.

It is! There is no real world bad besides a pretentious douche and ultimately it's something to laugh at even for the people who lived through it. It's the best!

YES. (Also the fact that this dude doesn't understand that food is actually substantially different than art and that most people want things that taste good and that's not just because we're all philistines.)

Is a plaster cast of the chef's mouth full of foam art though.

HORSE DRAWINGS HOLY SHIT HEEE.

(My one experience at a Michelin-starred restaurant, in Spain, was superb: the food was amazing, when I didn't care for one dish they immediately offered me alternatives, and the service was the best I have had anywhere.)

Like you, I've enjoyed several of these types of meals but they were never this much of a joke.

I mean, this meal reads like a Monty Python sketch. At least we all got a laugh out of it. :D
